On March 14th, 2023, I hosted the SDIA's Sustainable IT Summit in Düsseldorf. The event was centered on two key themes: Regionality & Sustainability. The main topics: * Creating regional champions - digitalization is done by people and not the cloud, how do we foster regional ecosystems? * What are the market barriers
How do we measure the energy & resource consumed by software? Why does it matter? What's the role of software in the global climate crisis?
In November 2022, the State of Hessen (in which the data center hub of Frankfurt is located) invited me to debate with representatives from Telehouse, Google and the Eco Association on the topic 'data centers - fundamental for a sustainable digitalization?'
The Fraunhofer Institute invited me to speak at the AFCEA Forum in front of the IT establishment of the German Military &. Defense complex on the role of sustainability in thinking about their IT infrastructure and how resilience and sovereignty can go hand-in-hand with environmental concerns.
